Chastity Cage Guide: Sizing, Materials, and Long-Term Wear
Chastity cages are simultaneously one of the most talked-about and most poorly understood pieces of kink equipment. Most guides are either sales-focused or written by people with minimal experience. I've spent significant time in chastity across multiple cage types and here's what actually matters when choosing and wearing one.
Choosing the Right Material
The first decision is material. Polycarbonate (hard plastic) cages are light, inexpensive, and comfortable for extended wear — the best choice for beginners and for anything over 24 hours. Metal cages are heavier, more durable, and more psychologically present (the weight is a constant reminder), but the weight becomes fatiguing for extended wear. Silicone is flexible and comfortable but provides less security. Avoid novelty cages or anything made of unidentified materials — cheap plastics cause skin reactions. Reputable starting options: CB-6000 (polycarbonate), Holy Trainer, and Bon4 are all well-documented and widely used for good reason.
Getting the Right Size
Sizing is the most critical factor and the one beginners most commonly get wrong. You need two measurements: interior cage length (should match flaccid length with minimal extra space — too short causes pressure, too long allows growth) and ring size (the ring that goes behind the testicles — too tight causes dangerous constriction, too loose and it will not stay). Start with the largest ring size in a kit and work down to what holds without cutting circulation. The ring should be snug with a finger's-width of clearance. Any blue discoloration, numbness, or unusual swelling means the ring is too tight and must be removed immediately.
The First Few Days
Expect discomfort for the first several days regardless of fit quality. Night erections will wake you — this is normal and fades as the body adjusts over roughly two weeks. Clean daily through the cage gaps with gentle soap, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely to prevent skin issues. Pay attention to any pinching points — silicone lubricant around the ring base helps significantly. Don't attempt multi-day wear on your first try. Build from a few hours to overnight to 48 hours as you verify fit and comfort at each stage. The first extended wear should feel routine before you attempt anything longer.
Extended Wear and Keyholding
Long-term chastity — weeks or months — requires more attention to hygiene, skin condition, and ring fit. Retaining fluid around the ring base is common after several days; going down a ring size or taking a short cleaning break addresses this. The psychological dimension of chastity intensifies considerably over time — the first hours are about physical sensation, but extended wear becomes about mental state, desire management, and the power dynamic around the key. Keyholding (giving the key to someone else) adds an entirely different psychological layer that short-term solo wear cannot replicate. The combination of physical restriction and another person's authority over your release is what makes chastity one of the most psychologically potent tools in kink.
